Staffordshire Disability, Sensory, and Neurodivergent Community Board
The Board act as a platform for people who live in Staffordshire with disabilities, sensory needs, or who are neurodivergent to share their experiences, views, challenges, and successes with the Council and Integrated Care Board to influence positive change, inclusivity, and equity in local communities and in health and social care services.
The Board meets three times a year to
Make sure the ‘Living My Best Life: A joint strategy for disabled and neurodivergent people in Staffordshire 2023 – 2028’ is being actioned.
Advocate for opportunities for people with disabilities, sensory needs, and neurodivergence to share their opinions, experiences and feedback in a safe space.
Next meeting takes place on the 14th of July 2026.
ASIST Community Conversations
Our engagement partners, ASIST, hold monthly in-person community conversation sessions.
These sessions offer a welcoming opportunity to join Andrew and Jo from ASIST for friendly, informal discussions about the things that matter to you, and what supports you to live your best life.
Andrew and Jo then take the feedback from these conversations to the Staffordshire Disability, Sensory and Neurodivergent Community Board, helping to ensure your views are represented.
Staffordshire Autism Joint Implementation Group
The Group meets bi-monthly online to review health and social care services and systems.
The group ensures that lived experience and professional insight are embedded in decision-making, supporting the effective implementation of reasonable adjustments across universal services.
This work aims to enable autistic people to live more independently.
The next meeting is 9th September 2026
Direct Payments Co-production Group.
The Direct Payment Co‑production Group is focused on improving the quality and accessibility of Information, Advice and Guidance for people using Direct Payments.
The group has identified two key priority areas:
The development of a Staffordshire Direct Payments Peer Support Group / Network.
Create a Direct Payment Leaflet for Social Workers to share with people eligible for Direct Payment.
The group meets once a month online and are actively recruiting new members to the group.
Carers Forum for Adults
with a Learning Disability
or Autistic Spectrum
Condition.
The group is led by Dave, a parent carer.
Members meet monthly, both in person and online, working closely with the Care Commissioning Team.
Together, they discuss upcoming projects and programmes, offering constructive challenge and acting as a critical friend.
Drawing on their lived experience and knowledge of the care system, the group provides valuable feedback to help shape and improve services.

This Forum links in with the “Living My Best Life” joint strategy in Staffordshire and feeds into the wider Staffordshire Disability, Sensory Needs, and Neurodivergence Community Board.
Downs Syndrome Forum
In Staffordshire and Stoke -on-Trent, we are looking for adults with Down’s Syndrome to come together to talk and Health and Social Care, Education, Housing and Employment.
We want to hear what you think works and what changes you would like to see.
This group meets every few months in person.
5 Ways to Wellbeing
Co-production
Network
Our 5 Ways to Wellbeing Co-production Networkbrings people together to explore and promote the use of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing across Staffordshire.
The network focuses on collecting and sharing real-life stories that highlight how individuals are using the 5 Ways to Wellbeing in their everyday lives, and how these approaches help support and improve wellbeing.
The group exists to make transport in Staffordshire more accessible for everyone.
Participants will be able to share their lived experience of barriers they face in making journeys across Staffordshire.
This will help the transport team at the Council understand what works, what does not work, and what needs to change, so that we can make real improvements together.

Community Champions are everyday people who care about their communities and want to volunteer to make a positive difference. You don’t need special qualifications or lots of free time - just a willingness to connect with others and share what matters.
