We’re asking all colleagues to take part in our new Data Skills Survey.
Data is one of Staffordshire County Council’s most valuable assets, and everyone across the organisation works with it in some form. Data can be difficult to define, as it means different things to different people, but we’ve used this definition from the Government’s National Data Strategy - data is “information about people, things and systems – not just numbers.”
To help us make the most of our data, we’ve set out our approach in our Data and Insight Position Statement, along with a Roadmap showing how we plan to strengthen how data is used in the coming years. A key part of this work is making sure all staff have the right skills and confidence to use data and information effectively in their roles.
That’s why we’re running this short survey. It will help us understand our current strengths and identify where further guidance or support would be most useful.
Your feedback will directly shape the support we offer across the council, so please take a few minutes to complete it.

Following the results of the recent eNPS, many of us have mentioned that we would like more opportunities to develop our personal and professional skills at work and more opportunities to work alongside colleagues across the directorate in teams that we wouldn't ordinarily work with. Following these comments and further conversations at our Transformation Employee Voice Group, we have set out to put this into action, and with the support from Lynsey Bissell and the Assistant Directors (ADs), we are launching the "Work Experience and Skills Survey".
Following the collection of responses, we will work with our ADs to initially select 5 colleagues where they can choose to spend up to 6 days over a 3-month period working within a team within Transformation. This team will be one that you have expressed an interest in working with and/or offers skills development for any skills gaps/interests that you have highlighted.
