Let’s Talk Transport is the easiest way for people to get involved in shaping the future of Staffordshire’s transport network.

Local Transport Plan

A new draft Local Transport Plan (LTP) has been written. It describes how we think Staffordshire's transport network should look, and the practical steps we, and others, should take, to get there. The LTP includes all the ways we get around, and how we manage our roads. It:

  • Describes our aspirations for walking, cycling, wheeling, public transport, rail, car-based travel, and freight.
  • Describes our aspirations regarding the management and maintenance of local roads.
  • Explains how we will prioritise, fund, deliver and monitor future transport and road schemes.
  • Sets out our 'asks' of our partners and National Government, whose cooperation is essential to successfully delivering the LTP.

Please click the links on the right to view the main document, appendices and the executive summary. An easy-read version of the draft LTP.

We want to know what you think of the draft LTP, so we are conducting a four-week consultation exercise, starting on Monday 29 September and running to 5pm on Monday 27 October 2025.

School Street Trials

A School Street limits the motorised traffic outside schools at drop-off and pick-up times. It creates safer and healthier spaces where children, parents/guardians, school staff and residents can walk, wheel, cycle, scoot or park and stride.

We are working with Staffordshire schools, local residents and businesses, and key stakeholders, to trial three School Streets in the county. They are:

  • Launched our walking and cycling maps and survey, to engage with communities being included within our next local cycling and walking infrastructure plan (LCWIP).
  • Held a poll regarding what transport issues are important to you.
  • Regularly updated let’s talk transport with content such as scrutiny reports and the Staffordshire business & environment network (SBEN) breakfast video.

We currently are under taking trial School Street at three schools, for further information please follow the below links for each school:

If you have been affected, either positively or negatively, by one of these trials, please follow the relevant link above to complete a survey.

All data collected via the surveys will be processed in line with our privacy notice. We will use your information to:

  • Refine the LTP to ensure it better meets the aspirations of Staffordshire’s residents and businesses. All information collected through the surveys will be anonymised.
  • Inform other transport related strategies, initiatives (such as the School Street trials) and funding bids.
  • Inform traffic, transport and carbon models and other analytical transport planning tools.
