Active School Travel

Please complete this short (2-3 minute) survey to help Staffordshire County Council understand why you choose to travel to school the way you do.
Your replies will not be shared with any other parties and will help us to support your school in the best way that we can.

Please complete this short (1-2 minute) survey to help us evaluate the Walk to School Week campaign that took place at the end of May 2023.
Staffordshire County Council sent resources to every mainstream school in Staffordshire to assist in promoting this campaign and we would like your feedback on how it went and the resources provided to your school.

This will help us to make important decisions on how we promote this campaign in future years.    

Walk to School Week takes place during the week of 20^th May – 24^th May 2024. This important campaign encourages parents and pupils to make an effort to walk all or some of the journey to school for that week.

Staffordshire County Council can support your school with FREE resources to promote the campaign including a Railing Banner that can be re-used year on year (undated), Posters, Bookmarks as rewards and digital resources to promote in newsletters, communications and on social media.

Walking Buses can be a fantastic way to cut congestion and parking issues around your school, as well as being a sustainable way of travelling, cutting air pollution and helping to fight climate change.
They are supported by Staffordshire County Council's Active School Travel Team, which will have increased capacity from September 2024 onwards, and we are looking to either re-establish old Walking Buses or support new ones around the county.

We know that as many as 170 Walking Buses were once established at schools around Staffordshire, but following the Covid-19 pandemic many of these Walking Buses stopped running and have not been re-established since.
Please complete this survey to let us know:
A: if you previously had a Walking Bus at your school, and if it was successful or not.
B: if you have never had a Walking Bus at your school but would like to know more about Walking Bus.

The questionnaire will take less than 5 minutes to complete.

School Streets has many benefits for schools including increased activity, lower air pollution and less congestion around the school.
School Streets involve closing the street outside your school to most traffic at the beginning and end of the school day.
Some exempt vehicles are allowed to use the street at these times, such as residents needing to access their property or parents with disabilities.
We know that School Streets is not appropriate for every school but Staffordshire County Council are looking to work with 10 Schools around the county to bring School Streets to Staffordshire.
