Local Nature Recovery Strategy
We need your thoughts and suggestions on how to help nature recover. We want your input to the draft Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, the purpose of which is to identify:
Areas of particular importance for biodiversity;
Areas that could become of particular importance for biodiversity, i.e. locations where there are opportunities to improve, connect, and create habitat most likely to provide the greatest benefit for nature; and,
Outcomes, actions, and targets for nature’s recovery across a range of different habitat types and species.
Government Guidance provides more detail on what should be included in an LNRS. See: Local nature recovery strategy statutory guidance
This is the first Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. In line with global and national trends, biodiversity is critically declining in the county (see: State of Staffordshire's Nature report | Staffordshire Wildlife Trust). Recognising the challenges we face in reversing this decline, the draft LNRS sets out the key opportunities to help support nature’s revival. It will be the overarching strategy for nature recovery, guiding actions, and shaping future policies and plans.
The LNRS does not place any obligations or restrictions on landowners, and does not add levels of designation to land. It is not a delivery plan.
